Rant about S2E06, S2E07 and season 2 as a whole

Post Body

I just finished watching the episode For Love which is the highest rated episode and I can see why but I have some issues with it and the show.

Side note, I am not familiar with video games at all Iā€™m just watching the show.

I really liked the first two seasons up until this episode. To be exact, the end of S2E06 is what did it to me. Really she just brought the castle to them? No planning no talking? Arenā€™t they going to meet an army of vampires? I get it, these three characters are powerful and skilled but so is Dracula and his generals are they not? To me this moment felt so unearned with no proper build. It felt rushed. They are supposed to assume that the state of the castle is healthy. They donā€™t know Dracula is compromised now and in a battle. If they met Draculaā€™s army while they are at full force wouldnā€™t they have needed to prepare and plan?

Also the world and its mechanics and history are really interesting and I wanted to know more about say the magic and Syphaā€™s abilities but we got nothing. Instead, Sypha is fucking broken she does all types of shit, which is cool and I really like her character, but how and why is she this good? How does the magic of this world operates? It felt like weā€™re supposed to accept all the shit she does because itā€™s magic and thatā€™s it. just like the old argument defending logical inconsistencies in fantasies ā€œ dude, there are dragons and zombies what does it matter if they travel fast?ā€ . I donā€™t like that. I donā€™t want like a manual on how shit works but donā€™t completely take me as a viewer for granted either.

Many of the moments in the episode For Love didnā€™t feel earned and to me were rushed but I have to give props to the sequences they are cool. More importantly, Draculaā€™s character arc was really well done and I really enjoyed it.

Yeah thatā€™s what I had to say. Iā€™m pretty disappointed.
