Raglan castle, Monmouthshire
Post Body

Raglan castle, one of the last true castles to be built in Wales. Built in 1460 and full of modern defensive features, including portholes for cannon and hand guns and some very impressive machicolations. The site is full of redouts and bastions. Though inside is a true high medieval and Tudor palace.

Was used in anger in an 11 month siege during the English civil war. Which resulted in it being slighted by the winning parliamentarians, leaving it a romantic ruin.
