Hi everyone! I have completed all paperwork for CASA as a volunteer & am trying to create a resource binder for myself/children & families. I was informed most cases in this area are under 5 & mostly neglect. I’m most knowledgeable about resources for pre-teens and teens from my own experience. I haven’t began training as of yet.
Here’s what information is already in the binder so far:
•Local food banks •Local salvation army’s (& if they have tickets for clothes) •Secret Santa/ Holiday programs •list of every school clubs/Sp. Ed. Contacts •SNAP •Section 8 •SSI/SSDI •Welfare •Day care/Headstart/Pre-K •homeless shelters that allow children •domestic violence shelters •WIC •Medicare/Medicaid •safe havens/shelters •hotlines (suicide/addiction/mental health, etc) •treatment facilities for addiction & psychiatric facilities •free programs for internet/phones/tablets/computers •LIHEAP and other utility programs •grants for low income houses & rent/mortgage •scholarships for Foster Children •Independent Living
I’m trying to create this binder so I can be most resourceful and provide information to make the children’s lives & living situations easier, as best as I possibly can in my role. I also have ADHD myself and this gives me quick access to common issues when I’m not feeling as motivated.
