I drive a 2019 Honda Accord Sport. It's really important for me to drive smoothly and I think I've mastered upshiting and rev-matching.
When downshifting normally, without any throttle input, I very slowly and smoothly release the clutch around the friction point. However, once the RPM matches the previous gear, there is a small but noticeable jerk. It drives me nuts and no matter how smoothly and slowly I release the clutch, there is at least a small jerk.
Am I doing something wrong or is this something normal with manual transmissions? Keeping in mind this is my first MT.
Please advise.
Thanks for your advice everyone - I got an explanation as to why it might happen. - Seems like rev-matching is the way to go. Do it while braking is challenging as it needs all three pedals. Practicing that right now starting to get it. - The smoother the clutchwork, the less prominent the jerk.
I've started to rev-match all the way to third gear. When I'm going to 2nd gear, I downshift without throttle to get that strong engine braking. There's no jerk because the clutch is depressed before matching.
Also thanks for the funny flair.
