What is the car that changed the car industry forever?

The original Ford Explorer is the single most impactful car I can think of. It ushered in the modern SUV and killed station wagons and now cars as we know it. While Ford might not of known it at the time the Explorer quite literally changed the entire world and economy

When Car and Driver wrote incredible stories, reviews, etc., there was a 1gen Viper review and the end said βits 1995, and a Viper crept next to a Corvette at an empty stoplight. The drivers looked at each other, nodded, and pulled away.β
It gave me chills.
