I had a failed carpal tunnel surgery in 2017. What are my options?
Post Body

Hi, all. The backstory is a little long, sorry. I had extremely painful cts a few years ago, and was getting nerve damage in my fingertips because of it. I decided to go forward with the surgery, and after I healed, I was okay for a while. Well, around 2019, I began to have the symptoms again- minor hand and wrist pain. I didn't think much of it at the time, but I did start wearing my brace again, on and off, to ease the pain as it came. It was pretty infrequent. As the last few years have passed, between 2019 and now, the pain and frequency have gotten much worse, which brings us to today. Particularly the last few days, suddenly the pain has gotten really severe. I just moved recently, so I don't even have a doctor to see yet. But I can barely do anything with my hand- I can barely hold a fork. I don't understand how the last few days it could have degraded this quickly, that I could be in this much pain, as if it was like a light switch was flipped. Has anyone else here had a failed surgery? What even are my options, now? I know that there are revision surgeries, but I don't want to put myself through that again, and that's really my last resort option- I'll do it, but only if nothing else works. I can't really use OTC painkillers, since the vast majority of them don't work for me unless I take a significant amount more than the dose listed (only naproxen really helps, and even that barely touches my cts pain). I don't have a current doctor, but I'll be getting one soon. What medical options have y'all explored? And what can I do for now until I'm able to see a doctor? I bought a compression glove this morning since I couldn't find my wrist brace (it was the cheapest option), and I iced it on and off before I had to leave for work, and compression and ice only do so much- I want to reiterate, I'm in a LOT of pain. Please let me know what has worked for you, both in pain management, and what has worked for you medically as well. I'm worried I'll be stuck with this for life.
