Floor insulation necessary?

I have been looking at everyone's builds, love them btw thank you all for the inspirations, it doesn't seem like many people insulate the floor. I wasn't planning on doing mine since I don't want the added height, but it seems like every video I watched while learning about doing a conversion talks about insulating the floors.
In everyone's experience is it really necessary?
