Need career advice. Administrative Court Paralegal vs PI Legal Assistant?

Post Body

I need career advice please. I'm a paralegal, bachelor's degree with almost 7 years experience--almost all in Collections. About half was the Litigation side and Half was the settled and paid in full and garnishment side. 6 months contract later in Personal Injury. My ultimate goal is simply to move up to being able to support a spouse and kid whether PI or contract law or whatever.

I have two job offers. 1 is a one year contract Paralegal for a City Department of Education in an Administrative Court with possibility of extension. It's a huge capital state government and I'm honestly amazed at the idea of working for them.

  • Track complaints in electronic filing system.
  • Draft email correspondence and follow up communication.
  • Review, analyze and interpret case materials.
  • Implement and coordinate hearing and settlement orders.
  • Examine and create files for new legal claims.

Second offer is a Legal Administrative Assistant at a PI firm of roughly 12 people. I would learn the entire process of a Personal Injury Case, but I'd also be performing basic Admin duties, scanning, mailing, making binders etc as well. Permanent job position with basically equivalent pay.
