I'm currently in a senior position at my current company, several things have happened and there has been a round of retrenchments that affected around 10% of the staff. This has greatly upset a number of other staff members who, in the 6 months after the round of retrenchments handed in their notice. Subsequently, my team of 4 is now becoming a team of one, me. We're in the process of hiring additional people to bring the team up to speed.
When my manager resigned I indicated that would be interested in moving up, I have ultimately taken over all the managerial tasks for the last 2 months and I'm still doing my work and the work of other team members that have left. I'm yet to be promoted or properly recognised for doing all of this, despite several promises.
In my frustration, I've applied for and received a job offer at another company. Now I don't want to move just for the sake of moving, but I don't actually know if I should stick with what I know and hopefully get moved up to a leadership position or actually just make the move somewhere else and join a company that actually wants me in a senior position. From a money and benefits perspective there's quite literally nothing in it to move. I've been going over different scenarios, I've tried weighing up the pros and cons. I like the challenges each position has, I enjoy the staff I interact with at both companies.
I need to make a decision by Monday, but it's clear as mud as to what I actually need to do and what makes sense for me long term
