Should I make a job change?

Post Body

So I work at X company now for 12 years. I know everything about the business and am not worried about being fired ever. The issues I have with the place is: A. They switch my position from Training Manager to Safety Coordinator, something I am learning on the fly, it’s a job I don’t care for. B. It’s a 1 hour drive each way for me each way in the upper Midwest.

So I saw a place close to my house, 20 min. away. It’s for my old position, Training Manager, for more pay and a managers bonus program. It’s also significantly closer to home.

I know I probably should take the new position because I literally live in Nowhere Wisconsin, so finding another position close to home again will be hard but I am leery of the unknown. My father always said “there’s always a worse road then the one your on”.

I love the comforts of my current company but at 56 I HATE the drive. FYI I currently own a hybrid for gas economy.

Give me some advice please.
