A new job offer should be coming in this week. Things are dragging on so long with this hiring process that I am getting sketched out about what I might be getting myself into.
Before I accept the new job offer, I want to let my boss know that I have a job offer, but I would rather stay. However, I would like a raise. I was thinking of asking either for a promotion to the next pay grade within my union or $5,000. Whatever comes first. Am I asking for too much?
I do a lot of work thatโs not on my job description.
Has anyone negotiated a raise successfully? How did you present it? What information did you bring with you?
