screwed up my career for the early part, is it possible to go back to a normal career life again?

Post Body

so my life basically hasn't been much of a success. In my early twenties I was hired as a programmer, but I got depressed and quit the job even if I was doing well in just 4 months. I was going through something emotionally and couldn't handle living alone in another country. Then moved to my second job and switched to sales. I quit after 1 year. Then moved back again into programming except I wasn't competent enough for the job and almost got fired within 1 year again. Now I'm in my mid thirties and a jack of all trades. I'm trying to get back into programming again but I think no one will hire me because of my track record... looking at a guy who just hops from job to job and a jack of all trades, not specialized in programming. Do I still have hope into getting back on track into a normal career life? I really want to settle down with a stable job and live life peacefully again. Right not I'm working in the family business and it doesn't really teach me any skill, my dad doesn't teach me anything, all I'm doing is screwing around in the office doing nothing. Well I made an inventory system and an accounting system in Java but besides that I'm just dead weight..
