Debating changing teams at my job. Is it a good idea or am I doing it purely out of frustration/about to shoot myself in the foot?

Post Body

So I work for a surgical tech company, in short. Thereā€™s three teams in the city I work in, and I technically belong to team A, weā€™ll say. Well, with covid and people leaving unexpectedly, I got transferred to team B for an unknown amount of time that my manager at A canā€™t/wonā€™t tell me. That already irritated me because I was given no choice in the matter, and no warning. One day I was just sent over there and told that was where I would be.

Since Iā€™ve been there, I was taken off the 24/7 call schedule at team A, except I am currently covering a week for one of my coworkers so he can have PTO. Thereā€™s a case at another hospital at 16:00 that Iā€™m expected to cover, despite being at my current hospital from 6:45 to 15:00, making it a 12 hour day for me. This isnā€™t the norm for any team. When I contacted my manager about my concern that it was a long day, I received, and I quote ā€œyes, for everyoneā€. This is patently untrue. I can see the schedule for team A and therefore know that no one will be spending more than six hours at their hospitals. Iā€™m the only one expected to work this, and was blown off when I raised the concern.

This is just the latest in a string of ending up working long hours on team A, as my managerā€™s scheduling tends to be... not great at times.

Which brings me to my conundrum. Iā€™m considering requesting to permanently transfer to team B, but Iā€™m wondering if thatā€™s the best idea. For one, I donā€™t want to burn a bridge with my manager, so I donā€™t know how to ask for this without doing so. I also havenā€™t always gotten along well with the manager for team B, and to be honest itā€™s stressful working underneath her at times. On the other hand, I would no longer have 24/7 call which would be an utter relief. I would only be working at one hospital instead of getting sent around to three different ones, and in some ways the work is easier on team B, though typically I work less hours in a week on team A.

Tl:dr, getting screwed over and having my concerns ignored on my home team, want to swap teams but I donā€™t know how to bring up the topic with my manager/general manager, and am not sure if itā€™s worth the stress of dealing with a manager that I havenā€™t always gotten along with. I need an outsiderā€™s opinion and advice on how to proceed if I do go through with the transfer.
