Is taking a pay cut going to be beneficial to my career long term?

Post Body

I work as a case manager in dispute resolution (banking and finance) and have been very fortunate to get where I am without any formal qualifications.

The organisation where I work is nice enough but there is a lot of pressure from senior management and I don’t always see the best business decisions being made.

My team manager is very hands off and not entirely confident in her role - this has given me to step in as a 2IC of sorts.

I have been approached by a bank who would like to offer me a team manager position within its dispute resolution team. I was incredibly excited by this as this is where I want to progress to.

The issue is that I would need to take a significant pay cut (around 30K). In addition to this, going to another organisation is always a risky move and I have often adopted a ‘better the devil you know’ approach to changing jobs.

There appears to be limited opportunities for me to develop further where I am, but I would need to change my lifestyle quitea bit to consider the pay cut needed.
