I've got six years of healthcare experience (peppered with sales-focused retail on the side) but now I want out. I've had enough of giving so much to an industry that's so limited by a lack of funding that good work will never really be rewarded. Over the years I've amassed a wealth of knowledge and experience that my job title doesn't immediately suggest - I audit the finances, I liaise with nurses, pharmacies, housing officers etc, I created the rota in its current iteration, I've trained other staff, I'm a dab hand with paperwork and (horribly outdated) task-specific software. I've been involved in peer recruitment and I've got supervisory experience - again, not well reflected by my job title but would likely be included in a reference.
The route I think might be a good one for me is healthcare recruitment, effectively switching sides and resourcing healthcare staff. A potential issue with this is that I don't have a degree - I left uni at the end of first year because my grandmother was dying 200 miles away, and then life got in the way as it does and I never went back. Frustratingly employers readily filter me out because of this despite the fact that I've got experience and professionalism that in many circumstances should give me the edge over a fresh graduate. This can't be helped, but I'm hoping that by submitting an amazing CV and cover letter to one of the recruitment agencies that are hunting for trainees, somebody will see the value of this and meet with me.
Does anybody have any advice on focusing my search properly and then tailoring my application to really show that I'm a capable candidate? Or is this just pie in the sky and is there something more feasible I could be aiming for?
Thanks in advance.
