So, I'm 30 years old, high school grad and some college completed. I've been at my current job for just under 5 years and would like something higher paying, more rewarding. I'm just not exactly sure where to start looking. I work at a very small (the owner, his wife, someone who answers the phones and me, the entire tech support/IT dept). food labeling company. We provide a means for restaurants to label their food without having to rely on messy and time consuming handwriting. The business is doing well, and if you've eaten at a chain restaurant recently the systems are probably back there. My main job priority is over the phone tech support. Somethings not working right and I walk whomever through xyz of fixing it. Sounds super easy, but a lot of people I work with are chefs who have no inkling of anything tech related. If something can't be fixed via tech support, I'm in charge of sending out the parts, swapping them out with the customer and repairing/refurbing broken parts. I like that part the best of my job, I'm really good at taking apart small machines and putting them back together. Nothing too advanced though, screwdriver and pliers are about as high tech as my tools get. Anyway to the crux of the issue, I want to be making more money, I make about 17/hr now and with my wife's slightly higher income we are doing fine, but I'd like to be doing better than fine. I guess my question is, knowing my limited skill set, does anyone know what field I should be looking into? I've been loyal to this company for a long time, but their product and service are so niche, I just don't know where to go from here. Thanks so much for reading!
