How do you turn sustainability advising for high-profile individuals into a full-time career?
Post Body

Hi everyone, I’ve recently found myself doing some advisory work for a high-net-worth individual who is interested in entering the sustainability and clean mobility space. I helped develop strategic concepts that tie personal brand influence to real-world climate and infrastructure impact, and it made me realize how much I enjoy this intersection of sustainability, mobility, and brand-driven community investment.

This isn’t something I set out to do, it kind of evolved from my background in clean transportation and energy systems, but now I’m curious:

Is there an actual career path in this?
If so, what is it called, and how do people get into it? Are there established roles for sustainability advisors who work with executives, public figures, athletes, or other influential stakeholders to help them enter climate-related sectors and infrastructure projects?

I’d love to better understand:

  • What skills or qualifications are essential for this type of work?
  • Are there firms or organizations that specialize in this kind of advisory role?
  • Is it typically freelance, agency-based, or internal to a brand/company?
  • How do people scale this beyond one client and make it a sustainable career?

Any insights, stories, or advice would be hugely appreciated. I’m trying to figure out whether to pursue this seriously and what the realistic pathway looks like.

Thanks in advance!!
