I've been with this company for 2 years. It's basically a finance company . At first everything was great. They gave me a raise, kept saying how good of a job I am doing, etc. Then the workload started to steadily increase and they started having more talks with me about errors.
I do a lot of data entry. I am processing hundreds of forms a week, a lot of which are paper forms that have to be typed in by hand. They have probably doubled the workload since I've been here. I've mentioned that, and they keep telling me I need to find a way to keep up, to find new tools, talk to IT for options, etc. They have hired someone for every department other than my team.
I've done research on data entry, and a .1% error rate is considered good, but in my company that's a lot of mistakes and can cost a lot of money. Everyone on the team is making these kinds of mistakes so it isn't just me. They don't go around telling other teams to figure out tools, google solutions, etc, but for some reason my team has been told that.
I also recognize you can't do data entry eight hours a day and be error free at the pace I have to work. I am not sure if I am the problem or what. It's really hitting me hard that I've had a come to Jesus talk and been told that this the final warning etc, but I'm not sure how much of it is me. I do my best to pay attention, but with hundreds of different forms processed a week, something is going to be found if you look hard enough.
I've also been told that my boss will now be going to each of my coworkers and asking him for a list of mistakes, which puts me under a microscope.
Some errors I've made are wrong prefixes for customers like Dr/Prof, wrong email address, etc. The total mistakes have cost the company $800 dollars in the time I've been here. The mistakes I make usually don't cost the company money directly, but are mostly causing some extra work like extra emails sent out, going back in and adding in a prefix, etc.
How much of this sounds like it's me? I am struggling with this because I do try hard and give my best but it's also hard to handle such a high workload and not receive help, so my options are to go really slow or just go at a good pace but make mistakes.
I'm definitely looking for something else but I live in a small town in Idaho so it's hard finding something. Thanks for any help.
