Post Body

I am 25 and got my layoff notice in June. My last day is coming up on September 30th. It's a full time tech role that is now being outsourced. I only worked 7 months in this role. Prior to this I was working as an intern for 2 and a half years with this company while pursuing my studies. They were basically waiting for me to graduate to offer me a full-time role but it's devastating to be let go. We had a new CIO take office and he started laying off people from tech and operations. (Talk about luck am I right?)

I feel lost tbh as I didn't expect to be laid off at the start of my career. Senior coworkers empathized and shared their stories when they got let go in the past. I've been applying to jobs since I received notice. Got ghosted by 2 recruiters. Of these two one of them was adamant about hiring me. The lady was super nice and was supposed to schedule an interview but bailed and filled the position with someone with more experience. The second recruiter told me to provide a date for an interview which I did but they never got back. Followed up but to no avail.

I live in Halifax Canada. The tech scene was growing right after the pandemic but now it feels like recruitment has slowed down a bit. Once October hits, I'm planning to hunker down and get some certs specific to Azure and Cybersecurity.

Would appreciate some advice from someone who might've had a similar struggle in the beginning of their career. I'm willing to share my resume with you over DM to spot areas of improvement.

Merci beaucoup.
