Hey all, looking for some suggestions.
I followed my passion and became a psychotherapist, but after being at it for four years, I don’t know if it’s actually the right career for me. I’m still going to try and make it work for another year or so, but I’ve been pretty unhappy for the better part of 2024 and am in need of a change.
I’ve come to the conclusion that I really just want a job. I’m willing to go back to school for a couple of years, but I kind of just want to be trained to do a skill I can come out of school ready to do. I want to go to work, do my job, and come home without having to think about it until I go to work again. I know QA/professional development is part of every career, but I’d prefer working in a field where it’s either minimal or very prescriptive.
My experience has mostly been in healthcare, customer service, and administration.
A career I’m seriously considering is dental hygiene because it’s still in healthcare/working with people, the pay is quite decent, and there are usually a lot of job openings that will hire folks right out of college. The big downside is the risk of repetitive strain injury/general physical burnout.
Any suggestions/guidance/things for me to consider would be appreciated — thank you!
