Career help
Hey everyone, I'm looking at a career change, I've been working kitchens most my working life, I want to move into 3d artwork as a career, need som help and pointers...
Firstly, I'm 30m based in UK, with a miniature me and minimal funds so a university degree is out the question, when leaving school we didn't have the options young ones did today with digital art in my area so I dabbled in blender here and there but never took it seriously, now comes the point in life where I realise I need a career change to something fulfilling and up my street per say..
My questions are... Is there any free/low cost courses to help improve my work. How do I go about re learning blender to become either hire-able or able to freelance (re learn as in I'm taking myself back to basics as I haven't had time over the last year or so to do any blends and I knew minimal to start with) How does someone find work within this field (any specific places/sites) I know right now I'm obviously not going to learn and get hired in a few days or weeks, but I need to start planning the shift in career and learning the field better ad like I was reminded by my 6YO... it's never too late to learn and I should follow dreams...
Other then building a port folio, is there anything else I can do to help with the mission in hand?
Is there specific fields in this career to aim for as I'm assuming for instance a modeller has more then just making cubes into pretty models, and is it worth focusing on a niche area of expertise or is it better to broaden the horizon
Does art style matter too much?
TLDR... left school young like an idiot, didn't choose a career, now regretting it and want to get into 3d modeling, is this a viable career and how do I go about planning the step into the 3d modeling world as a stable income.
