Travelling job - keep it or find something new?
Post Body

Hey everyone. As the title says, I am currently considering a change in careers.

I studied electrical engineering/mechatronics, worked as electrician in construction, was planning the electrical stuff for construction sites in AutoCAD, was travelling service engineer, IT one man army for a 30person company and right now I am a service engineer again.

The best parts of my career honestly were the time as electrician in construction and right now as travelling service engineer. The things I loved was the physical work. Creating stuff with my hands. Fixing shit. We had different things to do every day. And now the travelling part is the biggest thing. I am seeing parts of the world and I get paid for it!! Paid vacation kind of!

The worst times were as a planner and in It. I just couldn't stand the 9 hours of just sitting around, doing the same shit over and over and over again. Day after day.

The thing is now that I have had a girlfriend for quite some time and I am thinking about making her my wife. But the travelling makes it quite challenging sometimes as we only see each other on weekends and sometimes not even that...

Ans travelling people here who can give me advice? Will this get better someday? Do I have to choose between my dream job and my dream girl? If I had to change my job, what kind of jobs do you guys know amthat are similar to what I like?

Thanks everyone for every input, everything is appreciated!
