How to Advocate for myself? Contract Worker changes to Employee
Post Flair (click to view more posts with a particular flair)
Post Body

HI! I love my job and they'll be changing me from a contractor to an employee when my contract comes up again. I'll be getting benefits and more, so I've been told there will be a cut to my hourly. But I still want to be a savvy negotiator! What should I do??

Here are the details:

CURRENT

  • Contract employee
  • paid approx $61/hour
  • 14 hrs/week

NEW

  • Will have about 20 hrs/week
  • Contract already stipulates a 2% raise
  • I will get health insurance (for sure) and presumably begin to accrue sick/vacation time

Any advice??? I'm in the non-profit sector and love my job and definitely struggle with feeling guilty for getting paid at all. It does not make me a good advocate for myself!
