I've been at a local Healthcare firm for over a year now. I'm just about to graduate with a degree in the HIM field in May (which is what I work in). They know this cause I did my internship there with them. However, In the multitude of open positions that have opened up . I've gotten 1 interview. I've worked hard, done overtime when available. Taken on extra tasks when someone was missing or I just knew a extra hand was needed. I've applied for about 15 open positions now. Some of them would just move me to a similar level but different department in HIM or just one spot up. I did apply for supervisor which is two spots up but I knew that was a bit of a reach. They ended up hiring someone who doesn't even have a degree in HIM. (Most management in my overall department don't have degree's even in healthcare). Even just moving sideways I want to do because my department specifically is the only part of the HIM department that doesn't get to work from home. I also exceed their required metrics. If it helps to know I've been in healthcare 10 years now and at least 6 of those in a HIM field. 3 of those were in a management position.
So my questions is do I wait it out and hope I eventually get SOMETHING or should I leave and take my degree some where else?
