Hey y’all! I’m a recent Spring ‘23 graduate and just started a new position at a local bank on the retail side, which is not the department I see myself in long term but just wanted to get my foot in the door. I literally just finished my third day, however I noticed a job opening posted today in my company’s insurance department, which I personally feel like is way more up my alley than the retail position I just started. Would I be sending a bad message if I applied for a different department not even a full week in the company? I’m thankful for the position I was just brought on for and don’t want to rub any of my managers (who have all been very kind and supportive) the wrong way. I don’t want to make them feel like I’m looking to jump ship just 72 hrs into this. However, I also know that positions are hard to come by and wouldn’t want to miss out just because I’m brand new. I feel like they would most likely be supportive given the fact that I would be applying within the same company and they wouldn’t be losing me to a completely different company. What do you think? I appreciate any and all advice, thank y’all so much!
(I am unsure if there is a minimum service time requirement before applying for a different position at my company. If there most likely is, feel free to disregard my post lol.)
