Looking for advice, opinions, thoughts etc. I am a 29 yr old single mom who lives on a tight budget. I live in CA, USA and have lived in a studio apt for the last 6 years and drive a 1998 Toyota (just to show y’all how frugal I have to be 😂) I’ve done medical billing for almost 10 years now, and I’m content with my current job as far as work atomosphere, it provides me with flexibility with my daughter and decent pay to where I can afford to live (on a budget) but I just don’t see this job leading to where I can provide a more stable home for my daughter as far as getting a more reliable car, a bigger apt, basically a more comfortable life. I’ve been thinking of changing careers for a few years now, something where I can make a difference or at least enjoy what I do while maintaining a solid home, I was thinking radiology, ultrasound/sonography tech or something similar.. to be honest I’m just scared of jumping into a new career where I’m not even sure of what I want to do or the risk of loosing the only stability I have, but it may pay off in the long run? Thoughts?
My main question(s) to y’all is:
Do you have experience in the ultrasound/rad field? What do you think about it?
Have u changed careers later on in life? If so how was it? Regrets?
If you enjoy your job, what do you do and why?
Is there a job or person who has made an impact on your life? (Ex: had a biopsy done and I was so scared and alone, almost in tears and the way the MA spoke to me with such compassion and kindness, deeply touched me - I didn’t feel as though I was just another patient on another basic day if that makes sense)
I more so just wanted an open discussion or your thoughts on everything, again sorry for rambling I’m all over the place 😅
