Starting over… need ideas for a path up
69, no degree, 30 years in engineering, worked my way up to lead and project manager over other engineers and designers, made $180k in 2009. Got married and left that field to run now ex wife’s business in health care. Put my life savings into her business. Last year she decided not to be married anymore, dumped me, destroyed the business so I am left with no job and no money. No certifications in health care so no jobs there. All my engineering contacts are retired or dead and my applications for engineering jobs don’t even get a no thank you response. Now working part time on the sales floor of a big box hardware store.
Entry level won’t hire me due to age. Tech / engineering doesn’t want me, no current experience. I have, with luck, 5 productive years left in me. I am fit, agile, intelligent, willing to learn and I put 100% into anything I do.
Ideas? Thanks
