My employer getting sued -- should I stay?

Post Body

I have been with a business the last 6 months that has been going through some major pains, due to poor managementand staffing decisions made in the last year or two.

The manager hired several personal friends with poor work ethics who were inexperienced and unwilling to learn. They put a large amount of trust in several 3rd parties who either failed to render services or damaged product we provided logistics for, and never took steps to fix these problems before they cascaded.

I was hired this year under the pretense the issues were in the past and they were very much focused on starting on a new slate, which was great but they have many major issues I have learned of still causing legal issues. I have a position central to fixing problems and managing risk, however the business is either unwilling or unable to issue credits/fix inventory and settle past debts. I mentioned this to upper management and was brushed off.

There are several lawsuits now pending, including one that is for a huge amount I doubt they have the ability to pay. Cash flow isn't great. Definitely likely a judge would rule in favor of the customer since the damage is substantiated.

I am in the process of trying to settle down, buy a modest house and make some progress for myself personally but have zero confidence the business isn't going to go bankrupt and I will find myself out of a job on short notice. I have been told there is a lot of long term opportunity to manage and steer business operations which would be great but the lack of transparency concerns me.

It isn't a bad job though and I am mostly treated with respect and some of the perks (professional development, travel, flexible work location, challenge) have been nice though. Pay and benefits is OK but could be better.

Not sure if anyone has experience with this but would appreciate feedback.
