Hello everyone. I just turned 33 and I have been feeling ready for a new start career-wise. My background is graduated with a Bachelors's in Political Science and a minor in Journalism. Originally the plan was to go to law school but for whatever reason, in my life, I felt it was not for me at that moment. Went on to work in the marketing industry and have been doing so up until now. My latest role has me focused on data analytics which is new for me but I am not passionate about it at all and realize it's not my cup of tea. After spending 8 years in marketing on many different sides, agency and now corporate, I am ready for a new challenge. I find myself just passing the time by and working on different things while at work. I have no interest in the work and I'm not sure if switching jobs will get me there. Obviously, if I worked for a company I felt was cool or aligned with my passions it might make it easier but nonetheless, I'm just cruising by.
I am currently debating on working on my own startup business in tech. Creating platforms that can compete in those spaces. Obviously, the end game on startups is up to 10 years or more honestly if it succeeds to a level where I can exit the company and sell.
However, I have always considered the idea of law and public policy because I am very interested in equality, human rights, politics etc.
I am slightly considering going back to school - possibly law school as well. I am single, have no kids. and would be a non-traditional student in many ways (first generation islander, previous career, huge resume) Law school has now re-emerged itself as a potential thought.
My passions definitely are Politics, social change, tech, mental health, journalism/entertainment, and marketing in certain aspects. I'm also a great writer and am working on my first book.
They always say it's never too late to do this or that the cliche phrase.
Looking for your input on any opinions or comments. Anyone's comments from people in those fields will greatly be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
