I used a few different resources to customize my resume and write a cover letter for a position I was interested in. I used Teal HQ which makes it easy to write several different versions of your resume. The problem is that the site also can do an analysis of a job description and give a % match for your resume.
When I noticed I was a low match for several jobs (including those I KNOW Im qualified for) I took time to rework my resume. This took almost 2 hours.
So how long should you spend customizing your resume to match the job description IF the goal is simply to get a job?
Obviously, if its a job I really want its worth spending as much time as needed, but for a position thats a stepping stone to changing careers how custom should I make it, and does it matter?
