Long Post -
I’ve been a pharmacist since 2007 except for 2 years as a substitute teacher from 2020-2022. Recently needed a job and went back to pharmacy, a decision that led to upending my life. In January it became so bad that I became suicidal. I hate pharmacy and never wanted to do it in the first place but had no choice (which is another long post).
I left the store the day I was counting pills getting ready to follow through. I’ve been on mental health disability since Jan 30th. I have ADD and Depression with Anxious stressors. I have been on medication and stabilized after a fiasco in the fall. I’ve started on a mood stabilizer and doing much better.
My problem is that my disability is scheduled to end May 1st and I cannot go back. I’ve got PTSD and am terrified of what it would be like to be back in that space where I almost ended my life. I need to find something and fast. Anything really. I know from previous experience that if I can make $40k per year then we can pay our bills.
Speaking with my therapist we’ve acknowledged I need to go into a field that’s creative and hands on. I have always wanted to be a practical special effects artist and recently discovered the position of Exhibit Designer. I’d love to be an Imagineer but competition for that is fierce. My skills are a Swiss Army Knife of fabrication, design, and creative fields. I’ve done everything from 3D printing to electronics, to puppet making, robotics and life size functional Star Wars droids. Prop and cosplay fabrication.
I also have a certificate of general programming and database management.
So what jobs do you think I can get quickly that are remote? Anything that takes steps towards my ultimate jobs mentioned above a big plus. Moving isn’t an option at the moment and live in central IL. So remote a huge plus. Fast learner and strive to be competent in anything I do.
Thank you for helping!
