Hello everyone, I hope you're all doing fine! First of all, I would like to apologize for mistakes in my text, English is not my first language so I still struggle to put the text together.
I work with educational technology, started as a teaching assistant and in less than 3 years I managed to climb to a top position, I get paid very well, twice as much as people in the same position but my experience as a whole is weird.
Even though I have this position and I'm responsible for lots of people I still perform lots of jobs, I call them jobs because they are not part of the core of my position, people make me the IT guy. I'm constantly fixing computers, making presentations that look nice and so on. Parallel to that, I'm doing my actual job providing expert training, designing business strategies and managing a budget and attending meetings and so on.
But the worst part is not even the non-sense tasks I have to perform, last week I was requested to create a Blended Learning plan for next year and so I did, made everything clear, compiled a project and when the time came to have it approved, the owner didn't even bother to hear about it, they just don't really care about the ups and downs, how drastically it will change the company and all of the consequences and this is common practice since it is just a reflection of how disorganized the company is. Nobody really does any planning, project management nor proper decision making it's all a top-down situation where the owner has insane ideas and board meetings are just to say it out loud and dismiss any opposite opinion.
Most managers and directors are now used to this insanity and just chill but I can't go on with this, no money in the world will keep me happy in a place like this but at the same time, I'm really scared to get paid less or not find a fulfilling career somewhere else. So anyone with a similar experience or insights to share would be much appreciated, I'm all eyes and ears.
