I've been practicing cardistry for about a year now. I've been learning some fun flourishes and improving my skills. I still have so much to learn and improve upon but I've made good progress this past year.
When I show off my what I've learned to others...I don't quite get the reactions I was hoping for. I put in many hours of work and hundreds, if not thousands, of repetitions on a flourish only to show it to someone and get an underwhelming reaction. Even doing a relatively easy magic trick gets me better reactions.
Does it seem to you all that cardistry is way more difficult than it looks? If so, this is not a good thing for getting the kind of responses that make all the hard work rewarding.
My question for you all that are way better than me: Do the reactions get better? Do I need to just keep improving and then the reactions will come? Or is this more a hobby of "You do this for yourself, not to impress others" type of thing?
Any tips on getting good reactions?
What are some moves that have gotten the most satisfying reactions for you?
