In a hostel in Budapest I was shown a game similar to cheat, I loved it but now can't properly remember the rules. Phonetically it was called "Cher-ker", maybe Cher-ker poker? I think it might have come from Israel, but that could be wrong. You still took turns placing a card face down higher than the one before it (maybe could also be the same value?), but once someone played two cards everyone had to continue doing two cards at a time. On top of that, you could also do combos, like to top 2 fours, you could do 2 fours and a 3. Then same as cheat you would say "cher-ker" if you thought someone lied, and get all the cards if you're wrong. I thought I remembered all the rules but recently we tried to play it and it all fell to pieces.
Hopefully that rings a bell for someone, cheers!
