AKA: "Reminisce about your early experiences with the game."
I got into the game at the very beginning of its English release, when they released BT01 and BT06. Angel Feather and Gold Paladin, BT06's new clans in Japan, were around in English right there at the beginning, and were featured in both of my first decks.
I was on a road trip during the first couple weeks everything was released, and had seen the packs popping up in stores along the way. While casually shopping for cards online for other games, I stumbled onto the page for the new Vanguard singles. Browsing the card names, I clicked on "Yggdrasil Madien, Elaine" (basing my choice on the most-interesting name, and since I have a particular interest in Norse mythology). To this day, I'm still not sure what it was about seeing that card, but I was enamoured. I quickly scoured up the rulebook, and went about custom-building and ordering my first cards, a 50/50 Royal/Gold Paladin deck (my only dual-clan build to date) and an Angel Feather deck, since that clan was really up my alley, being composed of helpful angel doctors, just wanting everyone to stay safe. On the way home, I picked up a couple packs, and eagerly went into playing the game.
I fell in love with Angel Feather before I touched their cards, and playing with them only affirmed that feeling. I quickly shifted my focused into that clan (while exploring the others, since I do love deckbuilding). That first deck had Thermomter Angel leading a battle, with Adriel and Geniel at the top. Nothing too fancy, just a standard aggro build. However, once I had confirmed that Vanguard was, indeed, my favourite game of all time, I went about upgrading that deck. The first "expensive" Vanguard deck I built utilised the Ergodiel ride chain and Kiriel. Ergodiel always fascinated me, as at the time, the only units capable of healing damage were Cosmo Healer, Ergodiel and Mobile Feather Palace (a highly-difficult megablast unit). Ergodiel required a playset due to its persona blast, but I only had one Kiriel to start with, which increased over time.
That Royal Paladin / Gold Paladin hybrid later got split up and turned into a Garmore deck and an Agravain deck.
