co-owner and title?

Hey everyone! Hopefully this is the right place to post.

So, I got a loan and bought a car. I thought it was a co-signer, but technically they are on the title. They have never paid for anything for my car and now I am starting to look for a new one. When I go to trade in the car what do I need to do? Is there a way to get this person off the title of my car? If I pay it off fully can I get them taken off? I am just so confused and need some advice. I have been stressing thinking I might need to get a lawyer.
