Should I take the settlement?
Post Body

I was in a wreck a few months back. A car ran a stop sign and hit me and t-boned me with my kid in the car. We settled for the cost of my car and I’ve already bought a new one (well new to me), so that portion is settled.

I went to the ER after the accident, and got checked out. They discovered an issue with my heart that they called “an extra heartbeat,” but said it could have been caused by the accident or it could have been there already and we just noticed it. No way to tell, Doctor said it won’t affect my life really at all, that I may just ‘notice my heartbeat more.’ I followed up with my GP who wasn’t worried at all about my heart. Said I would be fine and live a long life. He basically agreed with the ER doctor “No way to tell what caused this, won’t really effect your life at all.”

Insurance is offering to cut me three checks. Two are to cover the ER visit and a third for my “suffering” and that will also cover my sons car seat. The cash in hand to me money will be about $1,700. I can’t afford a lawyer and have no intention to sue, so I just settle right? Take the check and walk away with a new car, new car seat, bills paid and some pocket money?
