Help hiking India Venster on Table Mountain

I'm visiting Cape Town and really want to climb Table Mountain on The Indian Venster path. How hard is it to hike without a guide or someone who knows the trail? I can find other people to hike it with me but I don't want to run the risk of getting lost or having to try and backtrack down. If there's any locals willing to meet up and do it with me, I'm around til the 20th! I just can't budget the high prices many established guides are asking for this two hour hike (850 rand).
