EDIT: Answer to the question: No, we cannot fly SAA guilt free. Verdict: 1) There isnβt an overwhelming boycott 2) People enjoy SAA hospitality mostly 3) I for one will continue choose lowest fare and best schedule. Observation: Strangers can get very nasty very quickly very unnecessarily. Also: The food was good (i take back delicious). Lastly: Im stopping notifications so i wont see your hate if that is what you have to offer.
ORIGINAL POST: I have my favorites BUT ive always made the ticket decision on the balance between departure/arrival time and price, so in the past SAA has been in my mix for local and international flights, but in the minority.
On my round trip to Jhb this week i have been pleasantly surprised!!!
Pulled away from the gate ON TIME Food and drink served quickly efficiently and kindly Food was delicious!! Lovely Chardonnay in a 180ml bottle, took some home Announcements from cockpit and crew was clear and confident and friendly and did not at all sound like a shrinking violet speaking into a kilometer long pipe with mice in it Music playing during boarding and disembarking Comfy seats Best legroom i ever had in economy Boarding gates in main terminal area rather than some remote cramped and smelly corridor
Also historically never had an issue with their service and had always been high up on my flying experiences. Ultimately ill admit to a bias towards other airlines due to all the chaos surrounding SAA (but price and schedule always wins the day).
Only me? May I now fly SAA guilt free? Have we moved on?
