Why is foreign income taxes less than self employed income?
Post Body

Hi, I am an independent contractor for a foreign company, so most of my income is foreign income. I am also a 'factual resident'. I am using the H&R Block online app, when I enter my income as foreign income, the amount I owe is significantly less than if I enter the same amount as self employment income. I have not paid taxes on this income in the other country, I've entered 0 for that line, so it is not due to double taxation.

I have also tried on Turbotax and get the same figures. Why is this?
