I'm the do it all guy for media in my company. I bought a Canon C70 and R6MII to make a significant upgrade in my video & photo work. Upgrading from the Sony PXW-Z150 and Nikon D7500. The lens on the Sony is 9.3 mm-111.6 mm (equivalent to 29.0 - 348.0 mm on 35 mm) and is more of an ENG style camera, which is what I am used to. The Nikon has a AF-S 35mm f/1.8, Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR and a Nikon AF Zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm F/4-5.6G.
So this is a pretty significant change and I'm nervous, especially on the zoom factor that I'll likely lose around 150mm of equivalency -- but I am willing to undertake it to improve editing, workflow and color science.
I have about $7,500 remaining in my budget. Curious what the group thinks for lenses. I have about $3,500 -- maybe $4,000 for accessories that I'd REALLY like to make -- Audio upgrades, a Kondor Cage for the C70, a slider, a tripod, two 128GB V90 cards from Prograde and Canon flashes for portraits. MAYBE an Atomos Ninja V 5.2 for the R6MII to get 6K Raw as my B cam.
So what lenses should I pick up? It's hard to not look at the new Canon RF 24-105mm f/2.8 L IS USM Z and see a perfect all around solution, but that would only allow me to maybe squeeze in one other used lens, either a RF 70-200mm f/4 L IS USM or RF 14-35mm f/4 L IS USM and no Atomos. In this case, what do the videographers say about wanting the wide vs zoom angle if I only get to pick one.
OR do I go with an EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS III USM and EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L III USM with a Canon Mount Adapter EF-EOS R 0.71x and then an RF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM. I think I can squeeze in the Atomos with this setup as long as these three are used.
Thank you for your thoughts.
