Buying a used canoe! Need help
Comments

don't buy a canoe from a reseller, plain and simple. Let that shit rot in their yard unprotected from the elements. To give you some hope, I just picked up a 2015 swift prospector 15 in kevlar fusion with the carbon kevlar gunwales for $2500cad, it was owned by an old retired couple and the thing is in pretty well new condition. This is in Ontario, if you are dealing with John, fuck that guy.

edit: Holy shit that is John, avoid that dick head. He buys $800 canoes and marks them up to $3000

the guy is a sketchy reseller that buys $800 20 year old canoes and marks them up to $3000. He uses auto reply bots to message sellers as soon as a listing comes up and he made it a fucking nightmare to try and get my current canoe.

don't do it, john's a dick head and there are much better deals out there if you are patient enough. If you are in Ontario, there's a mint langford prospector 15 that's about 15 years old and owned by an old couple. Offer them $2000 and see if they bite.
https://www.kijiji.ca/v-canoe-kayak-paddle-boat/muskoka/canoe-langford-kevlar-15/1664152906 I know for a fact they will accept an offer of $2300 as this was the canoe I was looking at previously and almost took the bite. Expensive for an older boat but it's in fantastic shape and much less sketchy history than a boat that's been sold to a reseller who knows nothing about it

gotta be persistent. I beat him and so can you.

given the seller, I would not be surprised they are lying about it.

I'm not familiar enough with novacraft but you may be able to check them out on the way back machine to see how the older models looked and what matches up. It's what I did to figure out the Langford canoe models like the "cottager" which they don't sell any more but plenty available used being portrayed as a prospector

could possibly be a 10-20 year old canoe using an older layup method, Langford canoes used to have a similar rib system up the sides but have changed up their layup over the years.
