Hey all! So I have some history with backpacking and canoeing, and I'm starting to think about a crazy, once-in-a-lifetime paddling solo experience. For some reason, I have fixated on circumnavigating a Great Lake (Superior? Michigan?) in a canoe. How stupid of an idea is this? I'd kayak it, but I hate kayaks. Hate sitting in them, paddling, the thought of tipping, etcetera. So...canoe it is? I'm down to train, buy a specialized boat, whatever it takes. I want to make this happen sometime in the next...ten years?
If you think a Great Lake is a really, really stupid idea, what would you recommend? I spent my childhood paddling northern Wisconsin lake chains, so the thought of paddling down a river or around a local lake chain just isn't quite exciting, you know? I'd love to do something giant and amazing, but how do you start that process??
I'd love any feedback, both positive and negative. Thanks in advance!
