I bought my Canik TP9 SA mod 2 a few months ago. Unfortunately, due to hectic schedules and a summer internship, I couldn't go to the range. I did, however, dry fire at home. I thought that before any range time I might benefit from a gun safety course. I mean, I am a total noob and have never fired a gun before.
So there I was, in the middle of the Arizona desert, 6:30 am. The 91-degree air, cooled with a slight breeze. I looked down range at a target, nervously got into position, inhaled and cleared my mind, found the perfect sight picture, exhaled as I brought the trigger to its wall. Hold. Pause my breath, secure my target, and finally pull. That first Canik shot!
It rang loudly, an wonderful pop as the 124gr bullet left my barrel. It zipped down range and hit nowhere near my intended target! Lol, I told you I was a noob.
The recoil was much less than I had anticipated. Even though this is my first gun, and I didn't know what to expect, I had the idea that the recoil was supposed to be harsh. It definatly was not. Totally manageable.
Holding on to the trigger, and inhaling again, I quickly heard the click of the re-engaging trigger mechanism. I was ready for another shot. Aim, verify, exhale, pause fire! Again, a beautiful explosion and a buzzing FMJ. Hot brass shot to my right as I looked down range to see that center mass hit, right on target.
I can only say, that I am impressed. I love this gun. It is a wonderful machine, I cant wait to try more.
Thanks Canik fam for getting me into shooting
P.S. Would a red dot be good for me? If so, which one would be best?
