I'm in the small hand camp, and purchased an Elite SC after not owning a gun for 3 years. Multiple ranges around me would not let me rent guns as I was by myself and had no one available to go with. So I held lots of different guns to compare to the Canik. I liked the size, feel and of course the price. I owned a Sig P938 previously but that was way too small and after 20-30 rounds was annoying to shoot.
The issue I'm dealing with is my grip on the gun requires my thumb knuckle to be just under the beaver tail. If I move my grip to wear my knuckle is next to instead of under the beaver tail my trigger finger no longer rests fully on the trigger. Shooting this way causes the gun to move as the trigger cannot be pulled straight back. Because of this the recoil must run my knuckle just right to cause it to get cut open.
This is not a slide bite, my hand/knuckle is well below the slide. This happens within 10 rounds. I shot my first 100 rounds without noticing it until I left the range last Sunday. The second 100 was from yesterday and I noticed it early on. I'm using the small backstrap and I'm not able to find anything smaller for it, I don't want to Dremel the frame either. I figured my first time out after a long period was just me not gripping it properly, but after last night I found my trigger finger length just does not work for the size of the grip.
Is there anything you can think of that I can try or is it a lost cause and I should switch to something else? I love the trigger and overall felt comfortable with the gun but cutting my hand up anytime I go shooting is not something I want. I've searched here and found a few others reported the same issue as well but didn't see any follow up from them.
Edit: I appreciate the advice, I went to the range again and shot the P365 XL and M&P shield Plus. For me personally I hated the Sig for being very snappy and the M&P was better than the Sig for me. But my side by side comparison of all 3 really gave me confidence to continue with the TP9 Elite SC, the trigger was night and day difference. Very spongy triggers on the other two that I did not like. For my range days I'll wear something over the knuckle so it doesn't cut open each time. It doesn't bother me, it was more of an annoyance to deal with.
