I have decided I will never again vote for anyone who visibly wears religious regalia or makes a big deal about being religious ever again.
We just do not share the same values at all.
So no one with a turban, or a head scarf, or burkha, or a yarmulke. No one with a Kirpan.
If they mention being part of a church/religion in their literature.
Just no. Religion has no place in western democracies and just causes problems. I don't share their values and won't support them.
I don't believe it makes me racist, but if people want to accuse me of prejudice go ahead.

India has historically (going back thousands of years) been a place of great religious tolerance, actually. Jainism, Buddhism, Hinduism and Sikhism all spring from there, but they also have a sizeable Christian population going back literal Millenia at this point.
They are also the only place in the Ancient/Medieval world that I can find that accepted religious refugees. Jews and Zoroastrians fled to India in different waves and were decreed free and lawful citizens by Hindu kings at the time. In both cases, India was quite literally the only place religious refugees could go. And both the Zoroastrians and Jews of India went unmolested for thousands of years. The Parsis (Zoroastrians) of India have a particularly interesting story, I suggest you look into it. But long story short, they thrived in India, and remain the single largest Zoroastrian population in the world.
Muslims are a different story. The Mughal Empire in India attempted to forcibly convert the entire population. One of the issues they had in the process was their new willing converts in India would not do violence against others in the name of religion. So their progress was stalled. The Partition of India was a long time coming. If there's any truly dangerous religion in the area it is Islam. Muslims sought to oppress other Indians for hundreds of years!! And have successfully oppressed locals in so many countries worldwide. India is one of the few, maybe even the sole exception, that was able to successfully resist being entirely colonized by Islamic military and political forces.
India is a problematic place, but to say it's full of people full of religious violence and always has been is a godawful take. It's one of the few countries that it has not applied to throughout most of its history. To say Islam is the innocent party in all of it is laughable.
