Hi, I almost died in a waiting emergency room. I just wanted to put out my story out there so that everyone is aware of how shitty the Canadian health system is. Iām a healthy 25yo female student who was having an appendicitis attack, I took a uber to the hospital, trew up in the uber on my way. Couldnāt walk, barely made it to the hospital. Once I made it and saw a nurse. They told me to sit and WAIT, keep in mind I was on thr floor CRYING SCREAMING and trowing up non stopā¦ The pain was so much that I was on the DIRTY floor, I was in so so much pain but they told me āitās probably just gastrointestinalā go wait. Like what the actual f..? Anyways, thank god my bf at the time knew a doctor working at that hospital and got me in for emergency surgeryā¦ If not, I would be dead instead.
Update: it was in a Quebec, in a Montreal downtown hospital. Also my bf made a call to a doctor he knew, and I got lucky he was working at that same hospital and informed his colleagues to take me in right away.
Itās not the system that has failed us - itās the politicians who have repeatedly undermined and destroyed the system.
