I owe money to the IRS in USA. Can I be stopped at the Canadian border?
Post Body

I am planning on traveling to Canada with my partner next summer, and I just realised I may be in a bit of a pickle here.

I lived in the US around 3-4 years ago (legally) and worked there (also legally). I moved back to Europe in a rush due to one of my parents falling ill, and left some unpaid debt to the IRS that still stands there. It wasn't much, perhaps 30 dollars or so, but I assume it has been accruing interest.

My partner and I booked tickets to visit Canada this summer, and I was wondering if this may be an issue when entering? I am planning on paying back the IRS, but I currently do not have access to my paperwork, so I have to estimate an amount to be paid. My current estimate stands perhaps at around 200 dollars, and my plan is to pay it prior to our trip, and print out the receipt just in case.

Anyone have experience with this?

Side note: I have never been to Canada before.
