I've noticed a trend this election, that I may or may not be blowing out of proportion, but is still encouraging; first time eligible voters (18-22 year olds-ish) seem to be voting en masse. What's more, they may be the most passionate and informed voter demographic I've seen this election, and they cunningly used social media to promote not just their political views but the idea that everyone is obligated to vote for the sake of Canada and democracy.
During the 2011 election campaign I had to practically beg most of my peer group just to look at party platforms, but the younger millenials seem to know how to reach a much wider audience, much more effectively.
Of course there are a ton of factors that made this election one of the most memorable in recent Canadian history, but the way I've seen first time eligible voters conduct themselves this election has been inspiring. Thank you SO MUCH for just giving a crap and talking to your friends and family about how important it is to be involved in shaping this country.
