I think i might be in trouble.
I just recently moved to a new job, as it was advertised it was a better job than my current, so I went for it.
I'm a cleaner/janitor in Ontario who just received my first paycheck from this new company, and not only am I being payed less then I was told but ib the memo section of the check it says I'm an "Ontario Subcontractor".
What does this mean for me?
I assumed I was an employee of the company that hired me, but apperently not, and as a 24 year old who can barely keep track of his regular taxes, what the hell am I supposed to with this type of wage?
I'm really regretting taking this new job, and now i feel i may be trapped in this sweatshop.
Any info would be super appreciated.
Replies may be slow because I'm currently on shift at said job.
Thanks.
[Edit: home from work now. I never signed a a contract (that i know of) and no taxes are being deducted from my cheques.]
[Edit 2: Have to go to bed... Have to work at 10am tomorrow (overtime). I honestly don't know what I'm going to do.. I have panic attacks when dealing with confrontation and I'm getting really nervous just thinking about all this. I really don't want to get anyone in trouble.. Maybe i just need some sleep. Thanks for all the help and support though guys!]
[Edit 3: As always, I'm a coward. I got worked up even thinking about all this and just messaged my boss saying I was done and why. I'm going in tomorrow, dropping my keys in the safe and washing my hands of this scheming place.. Back to the job hunt I suppose...]
